My MacBook is already dirty…

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

…from HARD CORE STUDYING! WOOOOOO! Yeah, right… :)

(Actually if you’re looking for a good way to clean your MacBook, take a white staedtler, “Magic Rub”, or any brand vinyl eraser to it, and just rub away. Works really well all over the MacBook, even on the trackpad!)

Here’s a shot of Webb from today. Have you joined any clubs yet?

Today in ceramics we started our first wheel-thrown project. It’s kinda fun, since I’ve never done it before. My piece slid right off after I got it into a very nice cylinder, and I had to re-center it and basically form it all over again. That was kind of a pain, but the wheel is neat because it acts like a vertical lathe like you would use for wood carving. Gets pretty messy and slimy though, luckily this cat is an APRONCAT! Hah, inside joke there.

Here’s a small rant that most of you will disagree with:

I hate when class gets let out early! Arrrrg! Especially when it’s a studio class and you end up with two hours to burn. I popped into my digital art class at 11, and we were let out by 11:30! My next class isn’t even until 3pm! And even then I’m out at 4:15, and the National Art Educators Association meeting isn’t until 7:30! Maybe I’ll head to the Pottery Art Studio store on Kellam and buy some glazes and some less-rough clay…

I could pay for my parking pass, but my tags are expired and I plan to replace them, so I don’t want to have to go back to the parking office to change what my license plates are. Besides, the ladies that work in that office are, sorry, totally anal cranky whiny bitches. Now, some of you may call this a “pot and kettle” situation, but honestly…every single time I’ve gone into that office, I’ve come out pissed. It’s like Wal-Mart; you go in, knowing what you need, estimate about how long it will take to walk to that section, get it, and pay for it, but you end up wasting much longer than you anticipated and come out all frazzled because everyone in there treats you like dirt, from the kid ramming a cart into your knee to the cashier who’s too busy on her cellphone to ring up your bananas.</endrant>

(To all of my former English teachers, I’m very sorry for that run-on sentence.)

Well I feel stuffed for not bringing my DS today, so I guess I’m going to go find something to occupy my time. I also hear Ishibashi-sensei in her office and I should scram before she finds me and talks to me without my Japanese brain loaded. If you see me wandering around, feel free to point me in the direction of something cool.

Cheers,
Jini

Somehow I got suckered into watching two hours of Total Drama Island yesterday. What a stupid, stereotypical, poorly animated piece of garbage. Whatever happened to growing up with PBS?

Oh, that’s right, they’re still in college at the age of 24 blogging about stupid, stereotypical, poorly animated garbage shows on TV.

Anyway, a student announcement sent out yesterday says that there’s an upcoming university video, and the marketing staff wants guess who…students! I signed up, did you? Here’s the 411:

jmullen@odu.edu

Students selected for an appearance in the video will be contacted with additional details and a filming schedule.

It’s going to be in the 90’s and sunny today, but you can bet your ass I’ll be in Webb in my fleece hoodie keeping my toes tucked in my knees writing a paper for my art criticism (ARTH350W) class. Sorry about the lack of updates on the napping front; I haven’t had time to nap! Between my psychology, communication, and art crit classes, I’ve got a paper due almost every day. Summer session is out soon…then I need to study up on my Japanese or Ishibashi-sensei will literally beat me down with one of her giant dictionaries. *shudders*

*holds up a Vitamin Water Essential (orange-orange)*
Cheers!

Quickie. Kinda.

1). It’s really fucking sweaty balls exploding death hot outside. GOOD THING VAB IS AIR CONDITIONED MATE, GOOD THING.

2). ARTS279 in the fall is going to be LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL OMG HALP WUTS PEN TUUL? I’m going to cover that class in murdalade and eat it on a wheat thin. Yes, thats marmalade with murder. What, don’t you shop at Harris Teeter?

3). I’m really happy that Pepperidge Farm brought back Goldfish Grahams. They’re the most buttery and scrumptious graham snackies ever. You know what? They’re better than Teddy Grahams. Yeah, I fucking went there. 2 for $3 at Target right now. Go get yourself some and enjoy mouthfuls of win.

4). Still working on bringing back Crystal Pepsi…..

5). Last but not least, Wordpress 2.6 is out. Seriously Wordpress, you and Nintento need to chill out with the releases, ok? I JUST upgraded to 2.5.1, and now you want me to do it again?

6). Speaking of gaming… I’m currently still playing Final Fantasy Tactics A2. Yeah, it rocks. Excellent upgrade from FFTA (which I still have and love!). BUT!  Here’s my seasonal to-buy list (pending that financial aid rebate check in mid-August…yeah buddy!):

  • Wii Fit: HOLY SHIT I WORK AT BEST BUY, HOW DO I NOT HAVE ONE?!
  • Harvest Moon: Island of Happiness (8/26): I luv Harvest Moon.
  • My Japanese Coach (9/16): I’m in my 6th semester of JP in the fall with Ishibashi. I think I own every Kodansha book ever made. It’s obligatory at this point. (I even have the DS Jp>En dictionary!)
  • Final Fantasy IV: ONLY after I beat FFIII on DS (which I left behind for uh…Rune Factory? Lols).

7). I can’t believe FFXIII is coming out on lolxbox. I just can’t believe it. Seriously, SquEnix, you piss me off enough in your updates for FFXI, couldn’t you just STAY with Sony so I could justify buying a PS3 for the Blu-Ray player that will still look like balls on my 720p HDTV? My heart, you crush it.

8). <annoyingflashingtext>SEVERE WEATHER ADVISORY! HELL YES!</annoyingflashingtext>

9). (because no list is complete without a number 9): New Beck CD is gooooooooooood. And by CD I mean *.mp3 files that my neighbors cousins third poodles sires owners one-armed gardner found for me on TPB.

It’s hot. Let’s paint!

The air conditioned hallways in the VAB…such a tease. Have a seat in the painting studio for a few hours one afternoon. Go on, have a seat in there and try to focus on mixing your colors and then ask someone to pour more water on the rocks and pass you a towel because that room is a bloody sauna.

Man, if I didn’t like the professor so much (Heather Bryant, she’s such a peach!) I’d complain a lot more. Anyway, after heat exhaustion on Friday, I came back in today to work on my underpainting for our third still life. Here’s a shot at my painting for #2 (about 90% completed in this shot) and the crazy still life for #3:

I’m pretty happy with the bags, actually. I’ll go back in and add some highlights when I’m not you know…sweltering.

Have you seen my cat, Mac? He’s addicted to dried apples now. Kinda..makes sense…right?

Silly cat. Mac’s got his own set on my Flickr.

Stay cool kids.

Baby, It’s Cold Inside!

After COMM 200S (with delightfully entertaining professor Carla Harrell) this morning, I went down to the Panera in Ghent and snagged an Asiago bagel (untoasted–I was told the toaster was goofing off and might set my bagel on fire), and a mozzmato salad. For an hour or so, I’ve been in Webb center central (where the campus lolinformation center is). Now, I had a great seat in the corner where it’s dark and quiet, but none of the outlets worked in the cubicle thingy. I’m at a table by the windows now…and inconveniently, next to the air vent. I wear pants on Tuesdays and Thursdays, because I’m here literally from 9:30am til 9:00pm, and my final class in Diehn is…nippy to say the least. The weather is hot and muggy outside, but I’ve only been next to this vent an hour, and my fingernails are blue! I’m ACTUALLY considering going and buying a hoodie from the bookstore. (Of course by the time I get there, I’ll be sweltering from the nasty humidity and end up buying some ice cream instead…)

ODU, you can’t hide your shameless promotional item promotions from me!

P.S. I didn’t eat my red onions in my salad. Who wants ‘em?
